A carved tree stump sits above ground with indents and cravings around its bark. Multiple viewpoints allow the viewer to see different nooks and crannies, each with their own story to tell. Front and center a hollowed-out section of the stump reveals a tiny library filled with storybook clippings. To the left, a grandfather's face is spilling beads along with love letters out of his mouth. The mushrooms above are buzzing with powerful quotes. Around the back of the stump, a small terrace has storybook clippings with doodles drawn on them falling down the side of the stump. The left side of the stump has a bazaar-like overhang with black and white beads strung on red pipe cleaner. Finally, sitting at the top of the stump, three figures are huddled together with the larger figure reading from a storybook to two younger figures. Book clippings act as a blanket for the three figures, alluding to a large bed. This piece refers to the time of bedtime stories and sleepy mutterings. My love of reading came from hearing stories, both imagery and not, from my big brother when I was younger. Hearing the worlds in his head come to life inspired me to make my own stories, writings, and letters.
